The Minister of Environment, Juan Carlos Navarro, emphasized the importance of the Río Indio project for Panama, highlighting the need to carry it out properly from an environmental and social perspective. Navarro stressed that community participation is fundamental in this project, which is expected to generate progress in the region.

"The project is critical for Panama and it is critical that it be done well environmentally and socially; there cannot be a Río Indio project without the community. This will bring progress," said the minister. In this sense, he emphasized that the country needs this initiative and that the Ministry of Environment of Panama will support the Panama Canal and the communities involved in its development.
