Second phase of review of technical committees for sensitive food products advances

The second phase of the review of technical committees for sensitive food products, aimed at modernizing technical regulations and ensuring the quality and safety of food products in the country, is advancing. This was reported by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MICI).

According to MICI, since September of this year, more than 50 organizations from the dairy, meat, grains and cereals, as well as fresh fruits and vegetables sectors, have participated in intensive technical workshops.

This work is developed by consensus and in compliance with international standards such as the Codex Alimentarius and the commitments of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

With the support of the Directorate General of Standards and Industrial Technology (DGNTI), the advances reflect the commitment of the productive and industrial sectors to strengthen national competitiveness and food security.

The next phase will consist of submitting the documents to national and international public consultation, thus consolidating a key regulatory process for the country.
