In response to high travel demand during this season, Copa Airlines has increased its flight frequency between Panama and the city of Cúcuta, Colombia, which borders the state of Táchira in Venezuela.
The airline Copa Airlines has extended the temporary suspension of its operations to and from Caracas, Venezuela, until Thursday, January 15, 2026.
Copa Airlines invited passengers with scheduled flights to or from Caracas to stay informed through the airline's official channels.
Copa Airlines reminded passengers with flights scheduled until the suspension date that the following options are being offered:
- Change of date and/or change of origin/destination within the same region, without additional charges.
- Cancellation of the trip, keeping the ticket value as credit for a future date.
- Refund of unused or partially used tickets.
Additionally, it was reported that as part of the evaluation of operational alternatives, on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, Copa Airlines' cargo aircraft, a Boeing 737-800BCF, registered HP-1990W, is conducting a test flight to La Chinita International Airport in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Copa Airlines has not had regular flights there since July 2024.
According to Copa Airlines, it is estimated that by this date, the main runway of Maiquetía International Airport will be operational again, including its instrument landing system.
