The Maritime Authority of Panama (AMP) reiterated that, following the Supreme Court ruling declaring the concession granted to Panama Ports Company unconstitutional, the Panamanian state has activated a technical operational transition plan aimed at ensuring the continuity of port activities in the ports of Cristóbal (Atlantic) and Balboa (Pacific).
«Panama will remain a reliable, stable, and strategic partner for global logistics chains, maintaining its essential role as a hub for international trade,» the statement concludes.
As the owner of the ports, Panama guarantees the operational continuity of the national port system.
The AMP reaffirms its commitment to protecting the national interest, the continuity of international trade, the strict application of the rule of law, and the strengthening of the confidence of shipping companies, investors, and business partners worldwide.
In this context, the AMP states in a communiqué: «We trust that we can count on your constructive collaboration during this stage, for the benefit of the stability of the port system».
The AMP also reiterates the desire expressed by President Mulino to move towards an orderly and coordinated transition with the company Panama Ports Company, a subsidiary of the multinational conglomerate CK Hutchison Holdings, an organization with a global presence and recognized for its care of its corporate reputation.
The Panamanian government, complying with the corresponding legal processes, will at the appropriate time have the specialized support of APM Terminals as the temporary administrator during a transition period.
In this way, the essential services that support the global logistics chain will continue normally.
APM Terminals is one of the most reliable maritime operators in the world, which makes it a suitable choice to assume this responsibility.
These activities are proceeding normally, without interruptions, and maintaining optimal levels of productivity, efficiency, and service quality for shipping companies and their clients.
