The Council of Ministers approved an additional credit of B/. 3,110,000.00 to advance the modernization of the air traffic control system in Panama. These resources will be allocated to the Civil Aeronautical Authority (AAC) to meet contractual obligations for the 2026 fiscal year. According to Resolution No. 23-26, the funds are part of a supplementary credit to the General State Budget and will be used for the Implementation Contract of a New Air Traffic Control System, considered crucial for the operation of the country's airspace. This project aims to strengthen the technological infrastructure that supports the safe and efficient management of air traffic, enabling a comprehensive update of navigation, surveillance, and communication capabilities within Panamanian territory. With the implementation of the new system, real-time access to information will be ensured, aircraft guidance on flight routes will be optimized, and coordination between institutions will be strengthened, in addition to ensuring compliance with the international standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The Cabinet also authorized the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) to present this resolution before the Budget Commission of the National Assembly for evaluation.
