Panama Government Approves Credit for Agricultural Support

Panama's government approved an additional credit of B/.43,739,671.00, aimed at strengthening the national production of grains and other agricultural items, as well as covering pending payments to producers. These funds from the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) come from the Interest Compensation Fund (FECI) and will be used for programs such as price compensation under Law 107 and the payment of expired obligations. According to Minister Roberto Linares, this disbursement seeks to settle all outstanding debts with producers nationwide. Like the security case, this request also passed through the filter of the National Economic Council and the Comptroller's Office, which confirmed that there is sufficient financial backing to execute these resources. In total, the government approved over 57 million balboas in additional credits, focused on security and agricultural production, two key sectors within state planning. All of this was approved through resolutions that allocate funds directly to the 2026 budget.
