Panama prepares for rains until mid-January

The Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama (IMH) has released its climate forecast until March 2026, and this is no minor news: frequent rains and a dry season that will cover the entire country starting from January 15 are expected. If you are planning a vacation, it is time to pay attention to your destination. On the Caribbean coast—Bocas del Toro, northern Veraguas, and Costa Arriba and Costa Abajo de Colón—rains are expected throughout the year-end, so umbrellas are a must. On the other hand, in the Pacific region, provinces such as Chiriquí, Los Santos, and Herrera will have a mix of rain and sun, with Chiriquí entering the dry season first in late December and early January. The report also warns of east and south winds, which will bring a fresh breeze and light rains to areas like Chepo, Panama Norte, and Chilibre.

"Rivers could rise, so it is important to take precautions if you live near flood-prone areas."
