Prevention, responsible fire use, and citizen awareness are fundamental allies to mitigate these and other emergencies that threaten lives and natural resources. The David Brandon Barracks functions as the control and operations center for the fight against Wildland Fires (IMAVE). Throughout the year, the Pulasky fire company units train at this location to face the dry season. The preparation includes theoretical training sessions taught at this station, considered fundamental for the personnel of the Fire Corps to face the multiple risks during an IMAVE. This is due to the complex topography of the terrain, the type of fuel, or the changing weather conditions. To the theory are added intense practical training sessions, where physical and mental resistance is crucial, since many of these emergencies are recorded between 1:00 and 2:00 in the afternoon and, frequently, extend until late at night. The Meritorious Fire Corps of the Republic of Panama asks the community to understand that 'the first ring of security is all of us'.
