The government of Panama has announced three days for a gun exchange program for food, medicine, and appliance vouchers. This initiative, aimed at reducing the amount of weaponry on the streets, is supported by security agencies and guarantees full anonymity for participants. Governor of the province of Panama, Mayín Correa, emphasized that the exchange process is completely confidential: "We pay the right price according to the weapon presented, without asking for a name, address, or where it was purchased, through a super-discreet transaction." The exchange will take place in three stages at various locations across the country. The first session was held on Friday, December 19, at 'La Gran Estación' in San Miguelito. The second is on Monday, December 22, at 'La Doña' shopping center in Panama. The third is on Monday, December 15, at the Cultural Center in the province of Colón. All events will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This year, the program has been expanded to include home appliances, offering an even greater incentive for citizen participation.
