In the early hours of December 25 in Playa Chiquita, La Chorrera district, Panama Oeste province, a tragic incident unfolded: one person died and two family members were injured.
According to official reports, the dispute arose over the daily practice of burning trash on the street. A man driving a vehicle stopped near a house and got out to confront a neighbor about the fire. After a heated argument, the homeowner used a machete, striking the vehicle of the driver.
In response to the assault, the driver fired at the attacker, who fell to the ground. Two relatives who tried to protect themselves were also shot. Police say the driver had a permit to carry a firearm. The case is under investigation by Panama Oeste’s Public Ministry.
