Panama - A fatal accident plunged a Chiriquí family into mourning after one of its members died in the Divalá district, Alanje area, in the midst of a regrettable workplace accident that no one saw coming. It was 12:30 AM yesterday when Mr. Justo Emilio Trejos (63 years old) was about to move a calf from a recently calved cow inside the pen on an agribusiness farm. However, without him foreseeing it, the cow, weighing 1,400 pounds, charged him from behind and pinned him against a metal structure. Although his coworker, surnamed Ábrego (51 years old), tried to assist him, he could do nothing but watch as Trejos collapsed unconscious to the ground. Ábrego called 911 so that paramedics from the Unique Emergency Management System could resuscitate him, but it was too late: Mr. Justo Emilio died at the scene. In this case, the Public Prosecutor's Office opened an official summary investigation to corroborate that the events occurred as reported.
