With the participation of local and national authorities, the 65th edition of the San Sebastián Fair was inaugurated, one of the most traditional and representative events of the Ocú district, which will run until January 25. The fair is consolidated as a space for crafts, folklore, and agribusiness, where the cultural identity of the Ocú people is promoted and the local economy is significantly boosted. During the event, artisans from different regions of the country exhibit and sell products such as typical attire, hats, and crafts, all handmade, highlighting national talent and creativity. In the agricultural sector, the fair brings together a significant amount of high-genetics livestock of various breeds, whose best specimens participate in evaluation and judging sessions, strengthening the development of the livestock sector and promoting genetic improvement in the region. The president of the San Sebastián Fair Board, Marcos Castillero, highlighted during the inaugural event that this activity is a key economic engine for the district and surrounding areas. “This fair generates significant economic movement for our region, benefiting ranchers, artisans, merchants, and the entire community that participates directly or indirectly in this activity,” he noted. Castillero also emphasized that the fair becomes a showcase for the country's agricultural and artisanal sectors, while fostering family coexistence and the rescue of traditions. “It is a way to inject the economy into our areas and to keep our customs alive,” he added. The San Sebastián Fair will extend until Sunday, January 25, and will welcome locals and visitors to enjoy its exhibitions, cultural and agricultural activities, reaffirming itself as one of the most emblematic events in the province.
