The operation continues, but statistics warn that the risk remains. Carnival is not over yet, and the asphalt has already claimed its first life. A person died after being run over on Sunday night under the San Miguelito metro station, marking the first fatal victim of the road operation during the massive displacement towards the interior of the country. Over 122,000 vehicles have moved from the capital to different points in the country, according to official reports. The flow has been intense, with lane reversals and active checkpoints on the main corridors. The balance so far is overwhelming: 285 traffic accidents, 88 injured people, 232 drivers detected under the influence of alcohol, more than 4,500 speeding violations, and 500 vehicles removed. The figures were confirmed by the National Police and the Transit and Land Transport Authority (ATTT). While thousands celebrate on beaches and pools, the roads continue to be a scene of recklessness and excess.
