Mitradel has conducted 34 operations against child labor in December

Throughout the month of December, the Ministry of Labor and Labor Development (Mitradel) has conducted 34 preventive operations and awareness campaigns on the eradication of child labor in various commercial establishments nationwide.

These operations aim to warn about the legal implications of hiring minors under conditions that violate their rights, thus ensuring compliance with current regulations.

Social workers and technical staff from Mitradel reiterated that, under no circumstances, a minor under 14 years of age can be hired to perform any type of work. They also explained that adolescents between 14 and 17 years of age can work only if companies comply with the parameters established by law, including a reduced workday of up to six (6) daytime hours, which allows them to continue their academic training and fully exercise their rights.

To date, Mitradel has developed 16 awareness campaigns, impacting 124 key actors throughout the country. Additionally, 12 adolescents have been referred to training and capacity-building programs of the National Institute for Professional Training and Human Development (Inadeh), and the entity has granted a (1) work permit to a young person to work formally in a company.
