Ciudad de la Salud: 18 daily births

Ciudad de la Salud has hit a landmark with 16‑18 births daily, doubling the annual deliveries from the previous year thanks to the modernization of the neonatal ward and the efforts of pediatric neonatologist Dr. Roberto Grimaldo.

Ciudad de la Salud: 18 daily births

Ciudad de la Salud has reached a milestone with 16 to 18 births per day after completing a year since the relocation of the Neonatology and Maternity Ward from the Dr. Arnulfo Arias Madrid Hospital Complex to the modern Materno-Fetal and Neonatal Hospital.

Currently the city records between 500 and 550 births per month, projecting 6,000 to 7,000 annually, almost double the 3,500 annual deliveries previously attended in the hospital complex.

Pediatric neonatologist Dr. Roberto Grimaldo says Ciudad de la Salud has become a reference center for multiple specialties, treating patients with cardiac, neurological complications and twin and triplet pregnancies.

In the neonatal area, the hospital has achieved outstanding results with high survival rates for infants over 25 weeks gestation and weighing 600‑700 grams, cases once considered nonviable.
