Two young men rescued after being swept away by current at beach

Two young men, aged 18 and 19, were rescued by units of the National Border Service (Senafront) at Los Olivos beach, in the district of Barú, province of Chiriquí, after being swept away by the current. The 19-year-old young man was pulled out of the water, dragging his feet, disoriented and with difficulty breathing; border guards provided him with pre-hospital care on the seashore. After being stabilized, he was transferred to the emergency room of the Dionisio Arrocha Hospital for medical observation until he is fully stabilized. In light of this situation, Senafront called on citizens to only go to beaches that have surveillance from the Joint Task Force, to maintain constant supervision of minors, to avoid entering the water under the effects of alcohol, and to appoint a responsible driver.
