A workplace accident occurred this Wednesday afternoon at the Merca Chitré facilities in the province of Herrera, leaving a young man with significant injuries. The incident caused concern among those present at the time. According to a preliminary report and testimony from people at the scene, the worker was allegedly performing electrical work on the roof of the building located on Carmelo Spadafora Avenue in Chitré, when one of the panels broke, causing him to fall from a height. Paramedics and firefighters arrived at the scene and provided first aid. He was later transferred in a SUME 911 ambulance to a medical center for specialized care. Unofficially, it was learned that the young man apparently resides or was assigned to these tasks from the capital city at the time of the accident. The corresponding authorities must determine the exact causes of the incident and verify if the required safety measures for working at heights were being followed. The whole incident happened in a matter of seconds. As a result of the impact, the young man suffered a deep wound on one of his arms, as well as bruises on other parts of his body.
