This week begins an intense discussion in the full session of the National Assembly deputies, with a key point being the Retirement Age in the second debate of Project 163 which reforms the Organic Law of the CSS and addresses the IVM program. After analyzing administrative, health, and investment aspects, the decisive moment arrives to approve or not the increase of the Retirement Age.
The deputies have in their hands the decision to raise the Retirement Age to 60 years for women and 65 years for men, which has generated disagreement among the population. Organized groups like Alianza Pueblo Unido Por la Vida and the Suntracs union, led by Saúl Méndez, are alert and plan to take action if the measure is approved.
On the other hand, the Cciap emphasizes the urgency of the reform to the Social Security Fund (CSS) to guarantee the welfare of the population and create a favorable environment for investment and employment. They warn that the financial crisis of the CSS hinders economic recovery and could lead to an unsustainable pension system and higher unemployment.
Amidst these discussions, the future of the Retirement Age and the economic and social implications in Panama are a matter of concern and debate in the National Assembly.
