Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino will travel this Sunday to Oslo, Norway, to accompany Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony on behalf of Panama, as announced during his Thursday press conference. He will return to the country on Thursday night, as detailed. During the same event, the president also mentioned achievements and priorities of his administration, including the new building for the Oncological Institute, the construction of dormitories at the Technological University of Panama, projects to improve road mobility, and the modernization of the National Library.

Health Breathing Future: Panama Builds a World-Class Oncology Center

Among the announcements is the construction of a new building for the National Oncology Institute, in a joint effort with CSS, MINSA, and Ciudad de la Salud, as a major step forward in the fight against cancer. The new center will feature: 9 levels of care, a chemotherapy room with 90 chairs, beds for prolonged treatments, a clinical and molecular laboratory, and a hotel for patients and their families. Minister of Health Fernando Boyd recently stated: “Here, there are no CSS or MINSA patients, but Panamanians fighting cancer who deserve dignified and equal care.” Regarding Health, Mulino indicated that tomorrow he will visit Guararé to participate in the inauguration of a polyclinic, a long-standing need for the residents.

Dormitories for UTP: Study Without Fear of Homelessness

In another matter, the president reported that Minister José Ramón Icaza confirmed the bidding for the University Dormitories of UTP, with a capacity for 266 young people and common areas, study rooms, a kitchen, and gender-separated facilities. Additionally, six regional dormitories will be built, starting in Chiriquí, with a capacity for 93 students per location.

Road Infrastructure That Opens the Way

As part of his announcements, Mulino stated that the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) is advancing the bidding for the Expansion of the Corridor de las Playas in the coming weeks: 20 kilometers, 4 to 6 lanes, providing relief for cargo, travelers, and communities like El Espino, Sajalices, and Campana.

National Library Modernizes and Becomes Historical Heritage

The National Library Ernesto J. Castillera will receive investment to digitize and protect the country's documents, while 40 public libraries will be renovated, and the National Library will be declared Historical Heritage, preserving memory, identity, and the nation for future generations.
