Criminal defense attorney Valentín Jaén expressed his concern over the developments in high-profile cases and the questions being raised, noting that some are receiving attention while others are being overlooked. Jaén shared his views in a hall at the College of Lawyers, accompanied by fellow attorneys Rubén Castrejo and Humberto Rivera. The seasoned lawyer Jaén took a few minutes to explain what he perceives as being distorted or mishandled in many high-profile cases. He cited the case of his client, César Caicedo, who was placed under house arrest following his apprehension in 'Operation Nodriza' at the beginning of December. 'There was no act of corruption or extortion, the law prevailed, and I congratulate the judge for granting the house arrest measure to our client,' Jaén stated. Regarding Caicedo, who has been questioned, Jaén emphasized that constitutional rights prevailed in this process. In a separate comment, Jaén mentioned that there are other significant cases that have not been questioned (he did not go into detail), but his client has been the target of conjecture and speculation. Caicedo has health issues, including heart and aorta problems, which were also taken into account and valued by Judge Josefa Monfante, who acted in accordance with the law, Jaén noted. Caicedo was arrested on December 3rd and is allegedly linked to a drug trafficking network; however, the defense argues that in some of the cases against him, the charges are no longer relevant as the individuals involved have already served their sentences.
