Operation to Control Official Vehicles During Polleras Parade

The Comptroller General of the Republic announced a national operation for the Polleras Parade to ensure that official vehicles are used only for essential missions. During the folk festival, only the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP) will be allowed to use state vehicles. This measure is backed by circulars MEF-2025-81562 and No. 1-2026-DC-DNFG, which clearly define how and when official vehicles can be used. Any vehicle on the road must have a valid license plate, vehicle registration, technical inspection, insurance, and a pass if traveling outside of normal hours. The Comptroller's Office stated that violations will result in immediate vehicle impoundment, a B/. 200 fine for the driver, a B/. 300 fine for the head of transportation, and in case of recurrence, a B/. 500 fine and possible dismissal of the administrative director. Furthermore, all public entities and their staff must refrain from authorizing the use of official vehicles during the event. The Comptroller's Office promises to issue a report on the operation's results within five days following the parade. In summary: this year, official vehicles will not be taking any risks. Everything under control, so the tradition can shine without cheating or abuse.
