As part of the 'Steel Shield' operation, Panama's border service in Darien intercepted a drug smuggling attempt, arresting two individuals and seizing 278 packages weighing 248 kg.

Within the framework of Operation STEEL SHIELD, carried out under the Firmness Plan, the National Border Service in coordination with the Aeronaval and the Darién drug prosecutor's office, apprehended two citizens and 278 packages of a suspected illicit substance.

Noticing the presence of the border units, the citizens fled, throwing a number of packages into the water, leading to a pursuit that ended with their capture.

The suspected drug, the vessel, and the apprehended citizens have been handed over to the competent authorities.

Operations are currently ongoing in the area.
