A total of 21 citizens have submitted their candidacy for the position of Deputy Comptroller General of the Republic for the 2025-2030 period to the General Secretariat of the National Assembly. The next Deputy Comptroller will replace Eli Felipe Cabezas, who resigned last September for family reasons and due to his auditing firm, as revealed by the Comptroller General of the Republic, Anel Flores. For the election of this position, deputies must propose a candidate from the list provided by the General Secretariat. It now falls to the Credentials Commission to verify the documentation submitted by the aspirants, which includes their curriculum vitae, original birth certificate, certification of personal background information, authenticated copy of their university degree, and to submit to the legislative plenary the list of those who meet the requirements established in Article 179 of the Political Constitution, so that the deputies can nominate the candidates. In accordance with the procedure established in Articles 211 and 212 of the Organic Rules of the National Assembly, the vote will be nominal.
