Remains Found in Panama May Belong to Missing Canadian

Panamanian police are investigating the disappearance of a Canadian man and his children.

On Monday, human remains were found under a bridge over the Changuinola River in Bocas del Toro province. The family of the missing man, Ghussan Iqbal, believes the remains may belong to him and his infant son. Ghussan, his 7-month-old son Salahuddin, and his 2-year-old daughter Nousaybah went missing on May 21, 2025, in the town of El Empalme.

According to the missing man's sister-in-law, Nagham Azzam-Iqbal, there are contradictions in the investigation. Last October, the family's lawyer received a forensic report that revealed traces of blood in the family's home. Although DNA samples were taken, three and a half months have passed, and the family has yet to receive a response from authorities despite numerous appeals.

"We have not yet received an answer as to whether there was a violent scene in their house before their disappearance," she stated. The recovered remains are currently being compared via DNA testing with samples from her husband. The family is holding its breath, awaiting the results and wondering what truly happened and where the little Nousaybah is.
