Residents of the Altos de los Lagos community in the Cristóbal Este corregimiento of Colón, who had previously blocked the main Transistmic highway due to a lack of drinking water in the area, held a meeting with the governor of the province of Colón, Julio Hernández, representatives of the National Aqueducts and Sewers Institute (IDAAN), and units of the National Police. During the meeting, IDAAN officials informed that they will be carrying out work to repair a collapsed pipe in the system, a situation that has affected the water supply to the community. As part of the work, the line will be drained to ensure that the water reaches the community in conditions suitable for human consumption. According to the entity's technicians, the repair work could last between 15 and 20 days. Once the work is completed, the system will be connected to the Sabanitas water treatment plant to ensure the supply of drinking water to the residents of the area. The authorities reiterated their commitment to maintain communication with the community while the work is being carried out, in order to guarantee a solution that allows for the service to be restored in a safe and permanent manner.
