Panama's National Police conducted an operation near La Joyita prison, arresting two women and seizing firearms, drugs, and other prohibited items. The operation targets smuggling within the country's penal system.

The National Police thwarted the entry of weapons and drugs into La Joyita Penitentiary Center. During an operation carried out in Puente del Rey, in the vicinity of the prison, authorities managed to arrest two women, aged 37 and 29. From the women, two bags containing packages of presumed drugs, three firearms, ammunition, and other prohibited entry items were confiscated. Additionally, during an inspection in the area, a third abandoned bag was found, containing a large quantity of illicit and prohibited items. Among the confiscated items were 38 packages and wrappers of vegetable material, six containers with white powder, and 190 colored pills. Also found were mobile phones, more than 11,000 sheets of 'feeling' type paper, and tattooing equipment.
