Panama — In a surprise operation carried out at the Paso Canoas border (Chiriquí), units of the National Border Service (Senafront) managed to capture a 27-year-old man known by the alias 'Zorrillo.' The individual, widely pointed out by the community as the presumed responsible for a series of thefts and robberies that had kept merchants and residents of the area in distress, was intercepted after a surveillance operation that culminated in his apprehension. According to official sources, 'Zorrillo' had operated in different border sectors, taking advantage of the high mobility of people and goods to carry out his misdeeds. Once captured, the citizen was handed over to the competent authorities and made available to the Commission for Execution and Appeal, which, after evaluating the evidence and background, ordered his immediate transfer to the Chiriquí Penitentiary Center. There he must serve a 90-day prison sentence. The case of 'Zorrillo' adds to a series of recent operations aimed at curbing crime on the border, a strategic point where commercial, migratory, and security dynamics converge.
