Organizations Support Solidarity Pension System

Ten organizations in Panama support the solidarity pension system, rejecting privatization. The discussion focuses on ensuring a fair future for the country's pension system.

Ten organizations participating in the dialogue table in Panama have united in support of the solidarity system as the main proposal for the future of pensions in the country, dismissing any possibility of privatization. Marco Andrade, leader of Conusi, announced that this stance has been backed by the majority of participants.

"The majority has made it clear that we defend the solidarity system, and that voice must be respected," Andrade emphasized. The dialogue table has been the scene of intense debates, but support for the solidarity system has been affirmed as the preferred option, firmly rejecting the privatization of pensions, a topic that generates widespread rejection in social sectors.

Andrade stressed that they have not discussed proposals related to parametric measures and that any initiative presented by the government regarding pensions must align with the agreements reached at the table. He also expressed that organizations expect President José Raúl Mulino to consider the proposals before presenting the bill draft to the Legislative Assembly on November 6th.

Andrade also mentioned that the organizations plan to meet with President Mulino to discuss the bill draft before its submission to the Assembly. "It seems like a mockery to the organizations if we are not given the opportunity to review the document beforehand," he highlighted.

In summary, the organizations at the dialogue table in Panama have consolidated their support for the solidarity system as the only pension model and have firmly rejected any attempts at privatization. It is expected that President Mulino will consider the presented proposals before bringing the bill draft to parliament.
