Health Inspections During Carnival in Panama

For the second consecutive day, the Ministry of Health maintained health control operations in the districts of Paraíso and Los Andes, in San Miguelito. The actions focused on food sales points and on the verification of tanker trucks that supply water during the 'culecos', with the aim of avoiding health risks to the population. The regional director of Health, Algis Torres, explained that these inspections seek to guarantee compliance with health regulations, especially on days when street food sales and water consumption in recreational activities increase. The staff reviewed hygiene conditions, handling, storage, and preservation of food, in addition to the corresponding documentation and permits. In the case of tanker trucks, it was confirmed that they comply with the records and health standards that certify the quality of the distributed water. The head of the Carnival operation, Amanda Bleaser, indicated that the verifications were carried out in the area of the 'culecos' on H Street, in Paraíso, and in sectors near Los Andes Mall. During the day, 9 tanker trucks and 20 latrines were inspected, all of which complied with the current health regulations. The authorities reiterated the call to vendors and citizens to collaborate with preventive measures and to maintain safe consumption practices, remembering that prevention is everyone's responsibility.
