In the West Panama region, over 10,000 irregularities were found in various commercial establishments, directly impacting consumers' wallets and trust.
The inspections revealed 8,097 expired products. Additionally, 2,214 items were found without visible prices, 169 were damaged, 159 had no expiration date, and 14 had illegible dates. The authorities emphasized that they will continue to strictly enforce Law 45 of 2007 to protect consumers.
Fifteen businesses were fined for violating price controls, with a total fine amounting to $4,375. Three commercial establishments were temporarily closed due to unsanitary conditions. During joint operations with the Ministry of Health, over 400 products, some in a state of decomposition, were confiscated.
Cases of the improper use of subsidized 25-pound gas cylinders were also discovered in three stores.
The authorities called on the public to report any irregularities. Complaints can be filed 24/7 through SINDI, WhatsApp, or Telegram at 6330-3333, as well as on the official AcodecoPma social media pages and website.
