A consortium and a company have presented bids for the garbage collection concession in the San Miguelito district. In this case, Gicaher's bid does not align with reality, while the bid from the National Cleaning Consortium for San Miguelito is 16% below the reference price. Just before the deadline expired at 10:53 a.m., the company Gicaher submitted a bid amounting to $500,000 for the collection, destruction, transformation, or elimination of waste. The first to submit was the National Cleaning Consortium for San Miguelito, which is made up of the companies Pronto Aseo, Retraneq, and National Recycler of Panama. Mayor Irma Hernández stated last Tuesday that the tender documents contained errors, so they had to be adjusted to market reality. The opening of economic bids was supposedly postponed to February, but at the last minute, it was agreed to keep the date for this Friday, December 19. Their bid, sent at 6:52 a.m., was for $264 million, $51 million less than the reference price of $315 million. The concession for the garbage service in San Miguelito will be for 20 years. It will be up to the tender evaluation committee to recommend the future of this tender, which has been delayed on several occasions. According to the tender documents, proposals that offer technical or other conditions that would materially make it difficult to fulfill the object of the contract will be considered risky.
