Funds Approved for MIDA to Strengthen Grain Production and Pay Agricultural Compensations

The Council of Cabinet approved today Resolution No. 21-26, which authorizes a supplementary additional credit to the General State Budget for the fiscal year 2026, with an allocation to the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA), for the amount of B/.43,739,671.00. These funds, requested by MIDA through Note No. DM-0082-2026 and addressed to the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), are intended for investments in the projects for Strengthening National Grain Production and other Agricultural Crops, Price Compensation + Law 107 (Program of incentives for National Grain Production and other Agricultural Crops), and payment of expired appropriations for other projects. This credit aims to incorporate into the Investment Budget of this entity, resources from the Interest Compensation Fund (FECI), deposited in the Treasury-MIDA account No. 10-000178643, named the Single Treasury Account CUT-MIDA. Prior to its approval in Cabinet, the request also has the favorable opinion of the National Economic Council, and the favorable report of the Comptroller General of the Republic, considering that there is a real surplus compared to the MIDA's Income Budget. The Minister of Agricultural Development, Roberto Linares, indicated that with this payment, all pending compensations with producers nationwide are fully settled.
