Cerebral Vascular Diseases: Leading Cause of Death in Panama

According to the Social Security Box (CSS) of Panama, around 1,800 Panamanians lose their lives annually due to Cerebrovascular Accidents (CVA), becoming one of the leading causes of death in the country.

Doctor Nelson Navarro, a neurologist from the City of Health, has highlighted that this high incidence of CVA positions these diseases among the top causes of mortality in Panama.

"It is concerning to see how CVAs affect a large number of people in our country and have become a public health problem that we must address effectively," commented Doctor Navarro.

Cerebrovascular diseases, such as CVAs, require greater attention and awareness from the population to prevent their devastating impact on Panamanian society.

It is crucial to implement preventive measures and educational efforts to reduce the incidence of CVAs and other related diseases, as well as to improve access to medical care for those suffering from these conditions. Early detection and timely treatment are essential to save lives and improve the quality of life for affected patients.
