Bishop Julio Murray Thompson, who has led the Episcopal Church of Panama for over 20 years, will retire on November 30, 2025. He was also known as a representative of the Afro-Panamanian community.


Panamanian Bishop to Retire

The House of Bishops of the Anglican Church in the Central American Region and the Diocesan Council of the Episcopal Church of Panama have announced that the Rt. Revd. Julio Ernesto Murray Thompson, Diocesan Bishop of the Episcopal Church of Panama, will retire, effective November 30, 2025.

For over two decades, Bishop Murray led the Episcopal Church of Panama. Additionally, he served as a worthy representative of the Afro-Panamanian population in various national spheres of significance, where his extensive capabilities were fully deployed.
