Anel Flores, Comptroller General of the Republic, responded to the statements of former Vice President Gabriel Carrizo, who accused him of alleged political persecution. This comes amid investigations into alleged corrupt acts during the administration of the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD).
«The one who is currently under precautionary measures is him (Gaby Carrizo), not me... If that is his opinion, I will not answer him,» said Flores at the headquarters of the Supreme Court of Justice, where he was notified of the ruling of unconstitutionality of the contract between Panama Ports Company (PPC), and the Panamanian State.
Furthermore, the comptroller reiterated that he has no political ambitions.
«(Carrizo) will have the right to say what he wants, but that is something that corresponds to the Public Ministry, not to me,» Flores pointed out.
It should be remembered that months ago, the Comptroller's Office seized some assets of the former vice president for an amount exceeding one million three hundred thousand dollars.
Gaby Carrizo was charged with alleged unjust enrichment and was placed under house arrest with a ban on leaving the country.
